Background
At 8:30 p.m. on February 18, 1956, high school students Cookie Miller and Joan Gallagher were returning from Birch Grove Park in Northfield, New Jersey, when they saw a golden, disk-shaped object in the sky over Atlantic City. Miller said the object was about as big as the setting sun and appeared golden with a haze around it. It remained visible for several minutes. It circled slowly, descended nearly to the treetops, then suddenly darted upward and disappeared from sight. The Press of Atlantic City reported the sighting the next day. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
