Background

At 11:00 p.m. Jean Frost and Gertie Wynn were waiting for a bus on Water Street in Jacksonville, Florida, when they saw two lights in the sky flashing on and off. After 15 minutes the lights returned in the opposite direction; almost overhead they stopped, the lower object merged with the upper one, and it dropped at great speed until it was only 150 feet above the witnesses. The object, about 50–75 feet in diameter, had three pulsating white lights on top, was surrounded by an eerie red mist and showed a door outlined in red on its bottom. As the bus approached, the smaller object was ejected from the larger disc; bus driver Wallace L. Marlowe got out and saw both objects before they ascended at high speed. The case was published by C. W. Fitch in the APRO Bulletin in March 1959. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
