On July 10, 1956, the coastline and suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, were draped with angel hair hanging from utility lines and trees.
Background
Angel hair hung from utility lines and trees along the Melbourne coastline and in its suburbs. The material vanished within hours, but a sample was recovered for analysis by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. It could not be identified, although six scientists ruled out wool, cotton, feathers, cellulose and synthetic fibers. No object sighting is mentioned in the entry.
