Background

At 9:55 p.m. Mrs. R. S. Pope went out to her clothesline at her home in Juniata Township, Pennsylvania, and saw a bright disc hovering 4 feet off the ground to the north. It seemed to be 2–3 feet in diameter, lit up her backyard and had a dome protruding from its top. During the three minutes she watched it she felt a cold breeze coming from it. The object rose vertically about 20 feet, then headed north, gained altitude and moved out of sight. The case appears in Brad Sparks's list of Blue Book unknowns. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
