Background
At 10:30 a.m. Jack Stephenson was walking his dog four miles south of Galt, Ontario, when he saw an aluminum-colored object with a dome. It circled, stopped and hovered, then came down into a gully surrounded by woods, where he watched it hover about 2 feet off the ground for 45 minutes. It finally took off at a 45° angle to avoid a power line and shot away. Local residents found four burned or charred patches, each about 1 foot 3 inches across, forming a four-sided figure of 20 by 20 by 6.5 by 11.5 feet, as well as broken small tree limbs and two large three-toed prints whose relationship to the object is unknown. The Brantford Expositor, the Toronto Star and the Hamilton Spectator reported the case on August 3, 1957. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
