Background

At 10:00 p.m. policeman Ernst W. Akerberg and his wife Karin were at their summer cottage on the island of Gotland, Sweden, when they saw a disc-shaped object heading toward them from the sea. About 600 feet from them, at the shore, it made a sharp turn, tilted on its edge and swayed briefly, then moved southeast and repeated the manoeuvre just over half a mile away before passing out of view. A second, smaller object approached and went through the same manoeuvres. Air currents from both objects rippled the water and made the treetops swing. The objects, estimated at about 80 feet in diameter, seemed to be of shining metal, with the upper part rotating slowly over the lower part and a kind of tube with two red lights; they were silent apart from a hollow clicking sound. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
