Background
At midnight on September 1, 1957, Chief Inspector Reginald Jones and a fellow officer of the Glamorgan Police were patrolling the seafront at Porthcawl, Bridgend County, Wales. A blood-red object with a jagged black streak across its center suddenly rose out of the Bristol Channel on the southwest horizon. Two more streaks appeared above and below it. The object then took off at great speed toward the Atlantic Ocean. The London Daily Telegraph reported the sighting on September 4, 1957. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
