Crownsville, Maryland: Object explodes over State Hospital, metal pieces confiscated
On November 13, 1957, an object exploded over the State Hospital at Crownsville, Maryland; burned metal pieces that fell on the grounds were recovered by employees and confiscated by army intelligence officers from Fort George G. Meade.
Background
An object exploded over the State Hospital at Crownsville, Maryland, and two or three burned pieces of metal fell on the hospital grounds. They were recovered by employees William A. Zick and J. Caswell. The pieces were checked for radiation and confiscated by army intelligence officers at Fort George G. Meade, and were apparently sent to the Air Research and Development Center in Baltimore. An ARD colonel told NICAP member and WFBR news director Lou Corbin that he had no idea what the metal was; some of the material was perhaps sent to ATIC. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
