Background
On the night of November 6, 1957, two state policemen, Calvin Showers and John Matulis, in Danville, Illinois, observed a brilliant white light that changed color successively to amber and orange. Because the light appeared to be low in the sky, they chased it for 15 miles. During the chase their communications radio did not function. The light eventually flew out of sight. The case appears in the PURSUE release (p. 201) and was reported on November 7, 1957, by the Hammond Times and the Du Quoin Call, and in January 1958 by the UFO Investigator. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
