In the early evening of November 6, 1957, Varine “Rene” Gilham was using an outhouse on his farm near Merom, Indiana, when he saw a brilliant object radiating a strong red light. The whole farm and the surrounding area were bathed in the light for 10 minutes. A small object joined the larger one, and the light grew more intense. The two objects then flew away. The next day Gilham had “sunburn” in many places, and two days later he was admitted to a hospital for treatment. The account follows the entry in George M.
