Background

On the afternoon of December 8, 1957, George Conner and his wife noticed a luminous, elongated object in the clear sky near Bonanza, Oregon. At first it appeared tear-shaped and seemed to hover over hills two or three miles away; when Conner stopped to take a photo, it began moving away at great speed toward the southwest at about the apparent height of the Sun. Around the same time, W. E. Guyer and his son, driving in nearby Poe Valley to the west, saw what looked like a jet with a huge vapor trail, but on closer view resembled a round object emitting a candle-like sheet of white-hot flame. Guyer estimated it at about 20,000 feet and 300โ€“400 mph and watched it for about five minutes until it disappeared to the southwest. The Klamath Falls Herald and News reported both sightings. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
