Old Saybrook, Connecticut: Lighted cigar with portholes hovers over yard, figures inside
Between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. on 16 December 1957, former teacher Mary M. Starr in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, saw a lighted cigar-shaped object with square portholes hover just above her clothesline and two figures moving inside.
Background
Between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. Mary M. Starr, a resident of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and a former teacher with a master's degree from Yale, was awakened by a bright light in her room. A brightly lit cigar-shaped object with square portholes hovered just above her clothesline. The object was about 20–30 feet long, dark gray or black, and hung motionless about 5 feet above the ground. Through its lighted windows Starr saw two figures pass each other, walking in opposite directions. NICAP, the CSI News Letter and Starr herself in Fate and Flying Saucer Review reported the case. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
