Background
At night the Brazilian Navy tow ship Triunfo, travelling off the coast of Bahia, Brazil, watched an unknown object circle the ship for almost 10 minutes. The object was round and encircled with an orange glow. It maneuvered at high speed, making sudden changes of course and right-angle turns. Occasionally it hovered briefly, sometimes close to the ship. Olavo T. Fontes described the sighting in the APRO Bulletin in January 1960 as part of the background to the Trindade Island sightings. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
