Background
At 7:50 a.m., the entire garrison of the meteorological station on Ilha da Trindade, Brazil, watched a bright point of light. The light was flashing and moved over the ocean toward the north at a high rate of speed. Olavo T. Fontes described the sighting in the first part of his report on the Trindade sightings in the APRO Bulletin of January 1960, and Jerome Clark lists it in his UFO Encyclopedia. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
