Around 9:45 p.m. on 13 August 1959, Orville Shanks and three passengers on Highway 332 north of Freeport, Texas, saw a bright object with two satellite lights approach; the car's motor and headlights failed and the lights and the object appeared to land.
Background
Around 9:45 p.m., Orville Shanks was driving with three passengers on Highway 332 north of Freeport, Texas, when they saw a bright object with two satellite lights approach at low altitude. The car's motor stalled and the headlights went out. The two lights appeared to land, and the main object followed them, continually changing colors and varying the intensity of its light. The motor and lights came back on when the objects crossed the road, and Shanks drove on. When they returned about midnight the object was still there; Shanks got out and approached, but it began to glow brightly and make a noise, and they drove off again. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
