Background

From 12:20 a.m., for three hours, Hercules radar site no. 13 at McChord AFB near Tacoma, Washington, tracked a total of five objects that usually appeared in pairs; the returns were described as weak. Visually, at least one soundless, round, quarter-sized blue-white light was seen between about 10° and 20° elevation. Air route traffic control reported no air traffic in the area during the contact. Flight patterns were erratic, with range changing from 12,000 to 24,000 feet and azimuth from 190° to 170°. The objects seemed to fade from scope and sight when finally lost; intermittent fog disrupted visual contact. The case was examined in the Condon report. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
