Mobile, Alabama: Amateur astronomers see object cross the Moon over Copernicus for 33 days
Beginning on the night of October 8, 1959, two amateur astronomers in Mobile, Alabama, watched an unknown object cross the Moon's disk from west to east over the crater Copernicus, repeatedly over 33 days.
Background
On the night of October 8, 1959, two amateur astronomers in Mobile, Alabama, observed an unknown object traverse the Moon's disk from west to east directly over the crater Copernicus. They watched the fast-moving shape “every night the weather permitted for a period of 33 days.” They wrote to Project Moonwatch about the observations. Moonwatch replied that no other lunar observers had seen the phenomenon, so it must be closer to the Mobile observers. The case is described by Michael D. Swords in the International UFO Reporter in 2009. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
