Washington, Georgia: Dark 'footballs' pass over, then angel hair falls for two hours
At 1:00 p.m. on 12 October 1959 multiple witnesses at Washington, Sharon and Crawfordville, Georgia, watched "brown or black footballs" pass overhead, followed by angel hair falling over a vast area for about two hours; samples were analyzed at a laboratory at Robins AFB.
Background
Multiple witnesses at Washington, Sharon and Crawfordville, Georgia, watched "brown or black footballs" traveling southeast to west, followed by angel hair covering a vast area. The substance consisted of "threads from 10' to 50' long connected at 3/4" intervals by minute particles resembling snowflakes" and fell for about two hours. Five samples were sent to the Chemicals and Materials Laboratory at Robins AFB, Georgia; no unusual elements were found except high amounts of silver in one sample and some silver in three others. The conjecture was that "cloud seeding with a silver salt could have caused the phenomenon." Eberhart cites Brian Boldman's review of angel hair analyses in the Journal of UFO Studies (2006). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
