Background

At 11:00 a.m. Lorna Nelson, wife of the Rev. Robert A. Nelson, Methodist minister at Kollupitiya, Colombo, was at Devon Cottage in Nuwara Eliya, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), when she saw a cigar-shaped object flying high in the sky. It moved toward the east, descending in a cloudless sky; at arm's length it measured about 4 inches. She watched it for about 4 minutes, then rushed into the house for her binoculars. When she returned, the object was lower in the sky above the hills in the east. Two other people with her also saw it. Flying Saucer Review reported the sighting in July/August 1960. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
