Background
At 7:00 p.m. more than 100 people in Paracuru, Ceará, watched a disc-shaped object flying at low speed about 600 feet up. The silent object maneuvered over the downtown area for a long time and hovered at an angle by a church. It was about 60 feet in diameter with a strong bluish light on top. The same day 20 cities and towns in Ceará, four in Rio Grande do Norte, three in Pernambuco, two each in Paraíba and Bahia and one each in Piauí and Maranhão reported sightings. Olavo Fontes reported the wave in the APRO Bulletin in September 1960. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
