Background

Witness and Event

On July 3, 1960 at 16:30, Hugo F. Niotti, a captain in the Argentine air force, was driving north of Villa General Belgrano, Córdoba, Argentina. He spotted a dark object hovering to the right of the road, stopped, took his camera, and shot a photograph as it moved slowly across a field. As he wound the film on, it accelerated and disappeared into the clouds.

The Photo and Analysis

The image shows a cone-shaped object low above the ground, and a horse that had noticed it. Analysis produced measurements of about 7 metres in height, 6 metres in diameter, and 17 metres above the ground. The horse stood some 80 metres away, the object about 50 metres from the witness. It appeared entirely silent and of uniform colour, though in the photograph the base was black.

Significance

The photograph was acknowledged by the Argentine air force and published in specialist journals. It is regarded as one of the best pieces of evidence for a structured UAP, supported by a military witness and photometric analysis.
