Background

Pravda asserted that "some regions" of the USSR, including Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, were reporting UFOs. The paper dismissed these reports as reflections on water, rainbows, atmospheric reflections, self-deception or disinformation. It quoted physicist Lev Artsimovich as saying that "it is about time that these tales be stopped no matter how breathtaking they may be." The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
