Indianapolis, Indiana: Frank Edwards, train crew and guards see sphere with band of light
After 8 p.m. on October 12, 1961, broadcaster Frank Edwards, a train crew and two security guards in Indianapolis saw a silvery sphere with a band of light around its middle hover, spiral upward and speed away south.
Background
After 8:00 p.m. television commentator Frank Edwards was leaving the WTTV studio in Indianapolis, Indiana, when he noticed a spherical object with a band of light around its middle and blinking red lights on its bottom; it was silvery, apparently metallic, and reflected the city's lights. It spiraled upward, stopped, hovered again and sped away to the south. Fireman Jerry Carter and engineer Nolan S. Garman of a train on the Indianapolis Belt Railroad said the band of light was a row of square portholes flashing a bright, pulsating white light. Two security guards at a meat-packing plant, Bud Kaesel and Walter Jamison, saw the object pass directly overhead, rotating clockwise. The case was reported in the APRO Bulletin and NICAP's UFO Investigator. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
