Background

At 3:20 a.m., New Zealand naval and air force personnel, along with civilians and police across the Fiji Islands, observed a huge glowing green-and-white object with a long orange tail moving from northwest to southeast. The survey ship HMS Cook was within range, and members of its crew also saw the object. By 3:25 a.m. the same object was visible from the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Lauthala Bay, matching the other reports in timing and description. The APRO Bulletin reported the case in September 1963. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
