Atlantic Ocean: Argentine Navy transport's compasses swing toward large fast object
On 12 November 1963, the crew of the Argentine Navy auxiliary transport ARA Punta Médanos saw a large, fast UFO off the stern; the needles of the ship's magnetic compasses swung toward it and returned to normal after it left.
Background
The crew of the Argentine Navy auxiliary transport ARA Punta Médanos saw a large UFO off the ship's stern, according to Eberhart probably in the Atlantic Ocean. It was moving at high speed. When it appeared, the needles of the ship's magnetic compasses suddenly and simultaneously swung off course and pointed toward the object, which was about 6,000 feet away. The compasses returned to normal after the object left. NICAP's UFO Investigator reported in 1965 that the Argentine Navy had disclosed the case; it is also listed in Schopick's study of electromagnetic effects and in Loren E. Gross's history of 1963. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
