Background

At Bank's Stables on Ivy Chimneys Road in Epping, Essex, trainee riding instructor Pauline Abbott, 16, was riding her horse into the yard when the animal stopped and refused to move. She heard a 'squelching' noise from the field and saw a shiny white object on the ground. It was about 8 feet long and 3 feet high at the center, with what looked like a window on one side that was brighter than the rest. The object took off, flew horizontally for 100 feet and disappeared. Grass was found flattened over a circular area, and Abbott found marks forming a square with 8-foot sides within an 11-foot circular depression containing a 3-foot central circle. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
