On September 12, 1963, Patrick Loreno and 18 other men on Texas Tower 2, a US Air Force radar platform 110 miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, reported an unidentified object about 3 miles away. The platform was decommissioned and scuttled later the same year.
Observation
The object showed controlled lights, and vapour or smoke rose from its surface. The witnesses tracked it for 20 minutes until it sank before reaching a boat. They informed the Coast Guard and called for an investigation.
