Background
At about 8:45 p.m. a bus driver in Walthamstow saw a silver, cigar-shaped object descend rapidly, slicing through telephone wires before splashing into the River Lea. As it went down it gouged a deep scar into the concrete towpath. Police dragged the river but found nothing and, citing the shallow water of only four to six feet, called ducks a more likely explanation; the witness firmly rejected that. Eberhart cites the Walthamstow Guardian of April 17, 1964, and Flying Saucer Review (1964 and 1971). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
