Background

Donald Shrum became separated from his fellow bow hunters near the Loch Leven Lakes close to Cisco Grove, Placer County, California, and decided to sleep in a tree at sunset on September 4. He later saw a white light zigzagging at low altitude, lit fires to attract what he took for a helicopter, and climbed back up when the object stopped about 50 to 60 yards away. Two humanoid beings and a robot-like creature then approached and tried all night to dislodge him; vapor from the robot's mouth made him black out several times, and arrows he shot at the robot caused an arc flash and knocked it backwards. A second robot appeared, and near dawn more beings approached and large volumes of smoke made him black out again. He awoke hanging from his belt with the creatures gone, and one of his companions, who had also become lost, had seen the UFO. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
