Walker AFB, New Mexico: Atlas missile crews see silent light dart between launch sites
In 1964 crews of the 579th Strategic Missile Squadron at Walker AFB, Roswell, saw a silent light move rapidly back and forth between Atlas launch Sites 6 and 8 east of Hagerman, New Mexico.
Background
In 1964, 1Lt. Philip E. Moore, deputy missile combat crew commander, was on duty at Site 7 east of Hagerman, New Mexico, one of the underground Atlas launch facilities of the 579th Strategic Missile Squadron at Walker AFB in Roswell. An adjacent silo about 10–15 miles away called to report a UFO hovering and maneuvering over their site. Maj. Dan Gilbert sent T/Sgt. Jack Nevins, Airman 1C Bob Garner and Airman 1C Mike Rundag above ground. They saw a silent light that moved very quickly back and forth between Site 6 and Site 8 with instant stops and starts; Gilbert went up and saw the same activity. The account comes from former launch officers interviewed by Robert Hastings. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
