Background

At 8:20 p.m. on January 12, 1965, Mrs. Jubert in Custer, Washington, saw through her window what seemed to be the landing lights of an airplane coming into her yard and herded her three teenage daughters outside in the opposite direction. The four lights merged into one intense white light, which moved straight toward the house, lifted several hundred feet over a clump of evergreens, dipped down on the far side and touched the ground. A border patrol officer alerted by radio also saw the object and was buzzed by it so low that he stopped his car, got out and watched it move out of sight. In 16 inches of snow at the landing spot a circular imprint about 10–12 feet across was found, with scorched ground beneath the melted ring, and oval tracks 8 inches long and 8 inches apart led in single file to the evergreens, where they ended. One month later the circular area still showed traces. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
