Background

At 10:00 p.m. on January 15, 1965, Charles Knee Jr., a former newsman, was driving on State Highway 4A between Wilmot and Enfield, New Hampshire, when the radio stopped, the car's lights went out and the engine quit. He lost control, pulled to the side of the road and heard a loud humming sound like a high-frequency electrical whine. Stepping out, he saw a bright light below the cloud cover at about 2,000–5,000 feet, which seemed to hover for a moment and then took off to the south. As the light left and the whine died away, the headlights and radio came back on and the engine started by itself. The episode lasted about 15–20 seconds. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
