Poquoson, Virginia: NASA engineer watches zigzagging object land on shore and take off
At 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 1965, NASA research engineer A. G. Crimmins Jr. watched through binoculars an object about 75 feet across with red and orange lights at Plum Tree Island Wildlife Refuge near Poquoson, Virginia, zigzag, apparently land on the shore and depart at high speed.
Background
At 6:00 p.m. NASA research engineer A. G. Crimmins Jr. observed an object at Plum Tree Island Wildlife Refuge near Poquoson, about 75 feet across and 10–15 feet high, with 3–7 red and orange lights; it appeared to rotate. It moved about a quarter mile west on a zigzag course and then appeared to land on the ocean shore, where it remained still for about 5 minutes before taking off to the north and turning right to depart east at high speed. Crimmins watched it through 20x binoculars. The same object was apparently seen by retired USAF Maj. John R. Nayadley, another NASA research engineer, who observed a V-shaped object with blinking red-orange lights over Hampton, Virginia.
