Groveland, Massachusetts: Boy Scouts see illuminated domed object pass low over a barn
At 8:10 p.m. on 16 February 1965, Gary Smythe and several boys at a scout meeting in Groveland, Massachusetts, saw an illuminated object pass low over a barn; afterward the boys independently drew a domed, double-dish shape.
Background
At 8:10 p.m., Gary Smythe and several boys were attending a weekly scout meeting in Smythe's backyard in Groveland, Massachusetts, when Gary noticed a strange illuminated object approaching at low altitude. The object passed low over a nearby barn, disappeared briefly behind tall trees and was seen again as it vanished behind distant trees in an adjoining field; the sighting lasted less than a minute. Afterward the boys independently drew what they had seen, consistently depicting an object shaped like one dish inverted on another, usually with a central dome on top. Several reported a large white light at the rear and a bright blue light at the front, two noticed glowing ports around the perimeter, and one heard a soft humming sound. Most estimated its height at about 150 to 500 feet. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
