Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida: John Reeves reports landed saucer and robot-like being
At 1:55 p.m. on 2 March 1965, retiree John F. Reeves reported a landed saucer and a robot-like being in the woods east of Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida; MacDill AFB investigated, and NICAP's Richard Hall concluded it was a hoax.
Background
At 1:55 p.m., John F. Reeves, 65, a retiree walking in the woods east of Weeki Wachee Springs, Florida, said he saw a bluish-green and reddish-purple saucer-shaped object 20–30 feet across, with an outer rim, a stairway and two windows, standing on four legs about 2,000 feet away. After about 10 minutes a robot-like being about 5 feet tall in a gray-silver uniform and glass dome headgear walked to within 15 feet of him, stared at him and pointed a small black box that flashed three times, then returned to the craft. The object took off with a whooshing, rumbling sound and vanished vertically within 10 seconds, reportedly dropping two sheets of paper with indecipherable writing and leaving indentations and footprints. The case was investigated by MacDill AFB in Tampa, and Richard Hall, who supervised the NICAP investigation, concluded it was a hoax. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
