Epsom, Queensland: Three men watch lighted disc for 40 minutes, depression found later

John Burgess, James Tilse and Eric Judin were playing cards at the Epsom Retreat Hotel when their attention was drawn to something on or near the ground to the southeast. It appeared to be a disc-shaped, charcoal-colored object with banks of lights underneath; the three estimated its diameter as 30, 20 and 6 feet respectively. At times it seemed to approach and then recede, and finally it rose rapidly to about 300 feet and accelerated away to the northeast; Burgess and Judin heard a buzzing sound. The sighting lasted 40 minutes. Two days later a circular depression was found nearby close to a telephone line, and Tilse said the tops of trees appeared to be burned.
