Background

Frank Stavano and 24 other witnesses heard a loud, inexplicable explosion at his father Joseph's farm near Carrollton, Ohio. Two days later, while cutting hay, Joseph Stavano discovered a strange circular formation in which the wheat was completely missing in the center over a diameter of 26 feet. At the edges the stubble was bent or broken outward at an angle of 20–30° from the horizontal. No path led into the circle except his own. Soil samples showed no evidence of explosives or other foreign matter. The entry reports no object sighting; a photograph of the ground mark reached CUFOS in 1980. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
