Background

At 6:52 p.m. Chief Mate Torgrim Lien of the Norwegian ship TT Jawesta was watching a star-like object through binoculars in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 900 miles southwest of the Azores. He, the captain and other officers saw an intense blue, fiery tongue of light approach the ship at tremendous speed. As it came closer, Lien saw that it was a cigar-shaped object with a row of square windows. It passed above the stern at a height of about 900 feet, just below the clouds, within 30–40 seconds. The entry mentions a possible re-entry of the Soviet reconnaissance satellite Kosmos 69. Flying Saucer Review reported the case in 1966; Richard Dolan also covers it. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
