Background
At 6:10 p.m. five witnesses were driving near Saint George, Minnesota, returning to their homes in Gibbon from a bow-hunting trip. Sibley County deputy sheriff Arthur A. Strauch first spotted a strange object that seemed to be 2,000 feet up and a quarter mile away in the northwest sky. After about 10 minutes the group drove half a mile down the road and stopped; Strauch watched the object with the naked eye and through 7x35 binoculars. As it flew over them, Donald Martin Grewe described its sound as a whistling whine, and Strauch took a photograph as it began to move. The object flew into the wind for several hundred feet, stopped for a few seconds while its lights alternated between bright white and dull orange, and then moved off to the southeast at high speed. The APRO Bulletin reported the photograph in its November/December 1965 issue. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
