New York City: Actor Stuart Whitman reports two glowing UFOs during the blackout
Before dawn on November 10, 1965, during the Northeast power blackout, actor Stuart Whitman said he saw two luminous UFOs, one orange and one blue, hovering outside his twelfth-floor hotel window in Manhattan and heard voices from them in his head.
Background
Before dawn actor Stuart Whitman, staying in a hotel in Manhattan during the Northeast power blackout, heard a “sound, like a whippoorwill whistling outside my twelfth-story window.” At the window he saw two luminous UFOs hovering nearby, one orange and the other blue. He said he heard voices from them in his head, telling him they feared that humans were messing around with “unknown quantities” that might disrupt the balance of the universe; they called the blackout a small demonstration of their power and asked him to fight malice, prejudice and hate on earth. The objects then disappeared. The El Paso Herald-Post published Whitman's account on December 24, 1965; Jerome Clark discussed it in Flying Saucer Review in 1966. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
