Duque de Caxias, Brazil: Brilliant object hovers over motor factory, army called
At 10:40 a.m. on March 12, 1966, a guard and 10 employees of the Fábrica Nacional de Motores in Duque de Caxias, Brazil, watched a brilliant object hover over the plant for 30 minutes; the director called the Army and Air Force.
Background
At 10:40 a.m. a security guard at the Fábrica Nacional de Motores in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, alerted 10 employees to a mysterious light approaching the factory. It descended to 1,500–1,800 feet and hovered above the plant. The object, about 18 feet in diameter, gave off a brilliant white light that was hard to look at directly and periodically flashed even brighter. Plant director Col. Jorge Alberto Silveira Martins called the Army and Air Force. After 30 minutes the object dimmed and moved away at tremendous speed before the Army trucks arrived. Olavo T. Fontes reported the case in the APRO Bulletin (March/April 1966). The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
