Background

On March 31, 1966, JANAP 146(E), the joint Canadian–US Communications Instructions for Reporting Vital Intelligence Sightings issued under the Joint Chiefs of Staff, added that photos should be sent to the US Director of Naval Intelligence. It also added special CIRVIS reporting instructions for unidentifiable objects. In the same entry, Eberhart notes that the Canadian Air Defence Command ended its investigation of UFOs and transferred the responsibility to the Directorate of Operations. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
