Daniels Park, Colorado: Six teens hear footsteps, see lights and tall figure, car falters
On the evening of 7 April 1966, six teenagers picnicking in Daniels Park southeast of Littleton, Colorado, heard footsteps on a shelter roof, saw red, blue and white lights and a tall man-shaped figure, and their car faltered as they fled.
Background
At 8:30 p.m. six Denver-area teenagers (Donald Otis, Alan Scrivner, Patricia Retherford, Kaye Hurley, Mary Zolar and Michael Simington) picnicking at a stone shelter in Daniels Park, 10–12 miles southeast of Littleton, Colorado, heard heavy footsteps on the shelter roof; outside, a pulsing buzzing sound rose and two red lights with a white center appeared low over a field, and two of the girls saw a tall, man-shaped figure pass the window. From the ridge the group watched two blue lights and a rising and falling white light for nearly half an hour, and Scrivner made out a dark, football-shaped craft with lights at both ends. As they fled in Scrivner's 1954 Ford, the car would not run faster than 30 mph, the radio faded and the engine kept cutting out, and three of them saw a white, egg-shaped light rise from a gully toward the car. Once they left the park, the buzzing stopped and the car and radio worked normally. The teens called the Arapahoe County sheriff's office and reported to Littleton Police Chief John C. MacIvor; the Denver Post and several other newspapers carried the story on 8–9 April 1966. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
