Sebring, Florida: Huge delta-shaped object paces private pilot's plane for 17 minutes

At 10 a.m. private pilot James J. O'Connor was flying at 9,500 feet near Sebring, Florida, when he saw an apparently delta-shaped object overhead. He climbed toward it but levelled off at about 10,000 feet for lack of oxygen equipment, whereupon the object descended toward his plane and began pacing him, its size blocking out the sunlight and making a 'singing' noise like tires on wet pavement. He stalled his plane and dived to 3,500 feet, but the object, seemingly as big as a football field, was still pacing him. It changed shape to a wedge, then a thin line, made a reverse peel-off in a 360° turn and looked like a cone with the point upward as it climbed away. O'Connor estimated that it had followed him for 17 minutes. The account follows the entry in George M.
