New York City: Eight newspaper association staff watch object hover over UN building
At 4:20 p.m. on November 22, 1966, at least eight employees of the American Newspaper Publishers Association at 750 Third Avenue watched a bright cushion-shaped object hover above the United Nations building.
Background
At 4:20 p.m. at least eight employees of the American Newspaper Publishers Association watched a UFO from their 17th-floor offices at 750 Third Avenue in New York City. Assistant General Manager Donald R. McVay first noticed the rectangular, cushion-shaped object with a bright, reflective surface. The group went out onto the terrace and watched it move south over the East River and hover above the United Nations building, fluttering and bobbing like a ship on agitated water. It then rose slowly and moved south, then west; another witness was William H. Leick, manager of the Publications Department. James E. McDonald cited the case in his 1968 statement to the House Committee on Science and Astronautics. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
