At 8:30 p.m. on 26 January 1967, a lieutenant colonel and his daughter on a US Army base in Heidelberg, Germany, see a dirigible-shaped object about 50–60 feet long hovering 150 feet above a motor vehicle shed; a crowd of 50–60 people watches until US Air Force jets approach and the object speeds away.
Background
At 8:30 p.m. on 26 January 1967, the teenage daughter of a lieutenant colonel residing on a US Army base in Heidelberg, Germany, hears a strange pulsating sound. She tells her father, and they look out of the window to see a dirigible-shaped object about 50–60 feet long hovering about 150 feet off the ground above a motor vehicle shed, only about 100 feet away. Before long, a crowd of 50–60 people gathers around their apartment building to watch; some observers with binoculars say the object is metallic and has lights alternating in red, blue and green. After about 20 minutes, US Air Force jets approach in response to a call from the base, whereupon the object's lights increase in intensity and it speeds away. The case is reported in the APRO Bulletin of May/June 1967. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
