Belt, Montana: Truck driver sees dome-shaped object sink near ground and flash at him
At 9:00 p.m. on 24 March 1967, truck driver Ken Williams, about 5 miles southeast of Belt, Montana, saw a brightly lit dome-shaped object drop to within a few feet of the ground and shine a blinding light at him three times; a police and Malmstrom AFB helicopter search at dawn found nothing.
Background
At 9:00 p.m., truck driver Ken Williams, driving northwest on US Highway 87/89 about 5 miles southeast of Belt, Montana, saw a dome-shaped object emitting a bright light moving at 50–60 mph about 1 mile to his left. After hovering briefly about 600 feet up, it dropped slowly to "within a very few feet from the ground" and shone a bright light three times in his direction, momentarily blinding him. He drove to the top of a hill, stopped a car and asked its occupants to call the highway patrol, then returned and watched the light for several more minutes before it rose and disappeared "like a bolt of lightning." Numerous other reports came in from the area. At dawn, police and a helicopter from Malmstrom AFB searched without success. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
