Background

At 3:30 p.m. Ron Forest, 15, spotted a metallic disc in the sky from the backyard of a friend's home in Salem, Oregon, and alerted his friends Kenneth and Ronald Baker. Ronald grabbed a camera and took two Polaroid photos, one while the object hovered and another four seconds later as it sped away toward the west. The boys described the disc as metallic and flying very high, without lights or sound. Several newspapers reported the photos a few days later, one headline calling them authentic. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
