Mount Newman, Western Australia: Oil drillers see orange disc rise, approach and land
At 7:40 p.m. on 29 April 1967, oil driller Ian McGregor and a colleague at an airstrip near Mount Newman, Western Australia, saw an orange disc rise from a cone of light, approach them and land again; their compasses misbehaved.
Background
At 7:40 p.m., Ian McGregor and another oil driller drove out to an airstrip near Mount Newman, Western Australia, to look for a UFO that had been appearing in the area for several nights. To the southeast a bright haze appeared and turned into an inverted cone of light, followed by an orange disc that rose vertically, turned on its edge and approached them. When they flashed their headlights the object stopped, then returned in the direction it had come from and landed in the same spot. Their compasses were not working accurately; they waited until 11:30 p.m. but did not see it again. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
