Background

At 2:30 a.m. Carmen Cuneo, a mine worker in Caledonia, Ontario, stepped out of the mine headquarters building and saw two strange objects near a pond by the mine dump. One was cigar-shaped, about 36 feet long, with four windows along the side and a boom-like aerial on one side; the other was disc-shaped and about 15 feet across. Both hovered 12 feet above the ground, and three small men wearing what looked like miners' hats with four amber lights stood under the boom. After 10 minutes Cuneo went to find another witness; when he returned the men were gone, but the objects remained until 3:05 a.m., when they took off to the southwest flashing multicolored lights. Eberhart cites Saucers, Space, and Science (Fall 1967), the APRO Bulletin (Nov./Dec. 1967) and later Canadian investigations. The account follows the entry in George M. Eberhart's chronology UFOs and Intelligence (CUFOS) and the sources cited there; it is not an independent determination by From Beyond Space.
